[ She'd expected it to be somewhere she'd have to use her truck to get to, but no - those townhouses aren't that far from her apartment at all, so Chloe grabs her coat, walks by her usual mode of transportation, and makes her way towards Blackwood without even texting Angela to say she's on her way. She figured it was implied.
It was more like fifteen minutes instead of ten since she was going on foot and had to figure out which end of Blackwood Run 23 was on, but eventually she's knocking on her door, shoving her hands into her pockets and staring at the ground as she waits for an answer. ]
[ While Angela had waited for Chloe's arrival, she had been sanitizing her table and making a makeshift work station to finally fix that arm of hers. Everything at her kitchen table was pristine and safe to her liking.
When she heard the door she made her way to answer it and opened it with the typical bright smile. ]
[ She didn't have the brightest smile to offer in return, but she was sure that Angela more than expected that by now. She wasn't particularly interested in getting poked and prodded, more seeing it as a necessary evil into hopefully getting some sleep.
So she gave a nod and pushed her way inside, giving a glance around. ]
Nice place. Hell of a lot fancier than my apartment, that's for sure.
[ Her home was nice, though homes didn't hold a whole lot of meaning for her. They were a base to return to when you needed to sleep, eat, or take care of one of the many other things that a human body needed. She hadn't really allowed herself to attach to a home since her childhood one, and perhaps the connection to apartment in Zurich which had been lost as well.
A haunted townhouse held little delight for her. All the same she welcomed her in. ]
The joy of a well paid position. A gorgeous home that you spend very little time at.
Hn. [ She had plenty of money with her two jobs, one bringing in far more than the other, but she mostly hung out at home anyway. ] Sounds like a waste of money, then. [ She'd keep her cheap studio. ]
[ Chloe follows after, trying not to look to nervous and - well. Failing. She's not worried about the pain, she's worried about the things medical supplies always make her think about.
Especially needles. ]
Thanks for at least being willing to do this away from the hospital. I know you've probably been dealing with some hella shitty PR issues since... All that crazy crap.
[ The first thing Angela does is go to her medicine cabinet and pull out an anxiety pill. Then pouring a glass of water she walks back to Chloe and hands them to her, before motioning for her to take a seat at the table.
PR issues are not a new thing for her. She chuckles at that as she begins to get things set up, not rushing so the pill will have time to work. ]
I have dealt with far worse PR issues. The military organization that I was a part of got into major trouble. We were the heroes of the world for a few brief years, but we couldn't solve all the world's problems and people need a place to put the blame. I was often the one called to speak to the United Nations and smooth over issues.
Good, 'cause I'm awesome at both of those. Now I'll feel a little less intimidated. [ She's joking, mostly, but it is kind of nice to know when impressive people have weaknesses, especially ones that are her actual strengths. ] How long does it take for this stuff to work?
That quick, huh. [ She sounds mildly impressed by it maybe, but skeptical at best. Still, if this is some fancy future medicine, she's sure that it can do more than she gives it credit for.
She shifts her position in her seat, making her back a little straighter, before nodding. ] Yeah. Go ahead.
Alright, but tell me if you need a break at any point, there is no rush.
[ And then her demeanor changes and she is focused and every bit the professional. She is gentle as she takes the needle and inserts it into her skin. She repeats this a couple of times in different areas, talking Chloe through each thing she does. ]
The needle for the nanobiotics is slightly larger, but after this you shouldn't feel it.
[ Chloe hisses at the first injection, fingers flexing a moment, and her eyes shutting. She kept them shut through each shot, just so she wouldn't end up flinching every time. ]
Great, I'll just. Not look at that one. [ She kept thinking of the shots they'd given Rachel, the constant supply of medicine, all to keep her alive, and her stomach churned. ] Do you have a lot of this stuff here?
[ That was a loaded question. There were many reasons that she had become a doctor. ]
I made the choice so long ago, I hardly know when or why I chose it. It's always just been me.
[ But that was a sorry excuse of an answer, so she continues as she gets her tech ready. ] I saw a lot of death when I was younger, and I suppose I wanted to fix it. I wanted to heal and help others.
Can you feel this? [ She briefly paused as she pressed the large needle to the skin. ]
[ A war torn country. She guesses that makes sense. She didn't bother trying to pry more; Angela certainly seemed like the "fix it" type. She'd been just like that here, after all.
A part of her wanted to say medicine could only heal so much, but she was sure that she knew that, too. ]
[ It was true that Angela knew that, but it was still something she challenged on a regular basis. ]
Perfect. Then we'll continue.
[ Pressing into the wound with her needle she looks up every few moments to make sure that Chloe is alright before continuing again. Once it's all the way in, she presses down and starts releasing the pre-measured dosage of medicine. She looks for the immediate signs of healing, and smiles when she sees the skin start to react and accept the liquid. Finally she draws it back out and sets it to the side. ]
Your body needs a little bit of time to regenerate. [ She wasn't about to use her revival medication on such a simple non life threatening thing. ]
[ Once the needle was out of her skin, Chloe felt more comfortable with the idea of looking, watching as the weird, yellow medicine seemed to almost glow under the skin for a moment as it started to heal her hand. It already looked slightly less pink, which was something to be said for how fast it seemed to act. ]
Holy shit.
[ The pain she assumed wasn't there anymore because of the numbing medication, but she couldn't help but notice how much easier it was to flex her fingers. ]

So where we headed, doc?

[ And crash is probably meant literally. She points in the direction of the kitchen and starts walking that way.]
I set up everything I need in the kitchen and it's sterilized to my liking. It really isn't too painful. Or it shouldn't be.

Is there anything you don't do?

[ Years of living without any true adult direction meant she had never really picked that up. ]
And you should see my blueprints, the scribbled drawings are awful.
[ She took a seat after collecting the rest of her things and cleaning up. ]

Have no doubt, I am sure there are things you can run circle around me with.
[ She takes a seat and pulls out a thin needle to help numb the area. ]
Oh you should see improvement by tomorrow and be back to normal within a couple of days.
[ She looks over at her sympathetically. ]This will hurt a bit, but it should go numb within five seconds. Are you ready?

Just take a deep breath and breathe through it.
[ She then injects the next couple of areas that she needs to numb, and like that she's all done with the first set of shots.]

The medical field is forever growing.
[ Which is humble, because she invented the technology she is using right now. ]
How is it feeling?
no subject
A lot better. I dunno if it's just because of the numb stuff, but it doesn't like... ache or itch the same way it has been.
no subject
Nope, that's a typical response. Good.

So, uh... About those sleeping pills?
